The aim of the German initiative in Gambia is to improve the quality of vocational training in Gambia in order to open up future prospects on the job market for the people in Gambia and, if possible, to promote the willingness of Gambians who are obliged to leave the country to return voluntarily.
To this end, the training content should be more closely oriented towards the needs of the labour market, the proportion of practical training content should be increased, and the willingness and ability for entrepreneurship should be promoted.
As part of its projects, GIZ is working to improve the range of services and the quality of training at the Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI).
After a needs analysis at the GTTI branch in Mansa Konko, two new one-year training courses (solar systems at household level and manufacture/repair of agricultural equipment) will be introduced.
A prerequisite for the implementation of these training courses is the technical, professional and didactic training of the vocational school teachers. The Baden-Württemberg side is responsible for this project component in order to support GIZ's measures.
